Responsible consumption is currently one of the best alternatives to counteract climate change

The advantages of responsible consumption are: 

• They offer healthier, fresher, natural, seasonal foods, with a low degree of processing and high nutritional value. Most of the initiatives produce through agroecological practices or are in transition towards organic farming, which avoids the use of agrochemicals that are harmful to health and the planet.

• Responsible consumption initiatives are not 100% free of plastic and other single-use packaging but many have projects to reduce this and sell many products in bulk (without packaging).

• Responsible consumption initiatives offer cosmetic and personal care products that are handmade with natural ingredients, the offer is wide, from face and body creams, soaps, makeup, scrubs, to sunscreen, and at very affordable prices.

• They offer handmade textile products, with traditional designs and with a lower environmental impact than fast fashion brands, also called fast fashion. 

The consumption of products, services and goods is a habitual fact. But our society is involved, more than in consumption, in "consumerism" or overconsumption that pushes us to acquire more and more things. This trend, on which the current economic system largely depends, has serious consequences for the health of the planet and ours.

The impacts due to climate change and the loss of biodiversity and consumption are becoming more and more evident as a recurring element in the current crisis. There is an urgent need to change the way we consume.

Sometimes we are part of the problem caused by consumerism, because we lack the necessary information to be able to weigh the impacts that our consumption has on the environment. Plastics, food consumption, the clothes we wear, the use of technology or the way we move. They are all pieces that add to a consumerism that is degrading the natural environment.

Conclusions:

Making these changes now is our responsibility, if we do not learn to take care of our planet with radical change strategies, it will be difficult to see changes in the future. We will protect the planet to have a better future.
